The Embassy of India in Ulaanbaatar organized the India–Mongolia Tourism Promotion Workshop on 22 December 2025 at the Embassy, with a view to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector and promoting people-to-people connect between India and Mongolia. The Workshop was inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Atul Malhari Gotsurve, Ambassador of India to Mongolia, who highlighted tourism as an important pillar of the India–Mongolia Strategic Partnership. Ambassador mentioned that physical visas are issued by both countries on gratis basis. E-visas from India are on gratis basis and e-visas by Mongolia are at a nominal service fee of 5 USD and which are available in 3 days. He added that all stakeholders for the promotion of tourism are participating in the Workshop. H.E. Mr. D. Ganbold, Ambassador of Mongolia to India, in his remarks, emphasized the need for direct air connectivity and institutional cooperation to promote two-way tourism. The Workshop was organised in Hybrid mode. Participants from India participated via VC while the participants from Mongolia were physically present. Presentations were made by the Mongolia Tourism Organization, Hunnu Air (Mongolian Airline Company), and the Mongolian–Indian Business Council, outlining Mongolia’s tourism potential, air connectivity options, and avenues for private sector collaboration. Indian stakeholders, including the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), Apollo Hospitals, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), highlighted opportunities in leisure, business, religious, medical and winter tourism as well as the scope for expanding industry-to-industry cooperation. An interactive question-and-answer session followed, during which participants exchanged views on practical measures to enhance tourism flows between the two countries.
