On 10 June 2026, the exposition of Lord Buddha‘s two Chief Disciples Arahant Sariputra and Arahant Maudgalyayana was concluded after 10-days exposition from 31 May to 09 June 2026 at the Gandantegchenling Monastery in Mongolia . The sacred closing ceremony involved religious chanting of Mantras by the respected monks of Gandantegchenling Monastery, Indian and Sri Lankan monks. In his speech, HE Mr Vinai Kumar Saxena, Hon’ble Lt Governor of Ladakh, the leader of the Indian delegation highlighted the strong linkages between India and Mongolia through Buddhism. He underscored the role of Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi in taking several initiatives to promote Buddhism. He invited Mongolian nationals to visit Ladakh considering the huge cultural and geographical similarities between Ladakh and Mongolia. In his remarks, HE Mr Enkh-Amgalan, Minister of Education of Mongolia thanked the Government of India for the exposition. He stated that the exposition has further strengthened India-Mongolia bilateral relations. His Eminence Ven. Khamba Nomun Khan Geshe Lharampa D Javzandorj of the Gandantegchenling Monastery thanked all the stakeholders inter alia the Embassy of India, the Government of Mongolia, the Government of India and Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi. Ven Banagala Upatissa Thero, President Mahabodi Society of Sri Lanka and Shartse Khensur Rinpoche Jangchup Choeden, Secretary General, International Buddhist Confederation stated that the historic exposition gave an opportunity to the Mongolian citizens to pay tributes to the Holy Relics. Ven Choeden stated that during the exposition around 100,000 Mongolian citizens paid the tributes to the Holy Relics. In his remarks, HE Mr Atul Malhari Gotsurve, Ambassador of India stated that the delegation that came from India are “Dhammadhoots” (the messengers of Dhamma). He stated that the path of Pragna (knowledge), Sheel (character) and Karuna (compassion) shown by Lord Buddha continues to guide mankind since several centuries. He also informed about the signing of the 02 separate MOUs of cooperation between the Nalanda University and the Gandantegchenling Monastery and the National University of Mongolia. All speakers thanked the Government of India and Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi for facilitating the sending the Holy Relics to Mongolia. HE Mr N Enkhbayar, 3rd President of Mongolia, senior officials from the Government of Mongolia, India, senior monks of various monasteries in Mongolia, media and people from all walks of life were present at the event. The Holy Relics were ceremoniously handed over by HE Mr Enkh-Amgalan, Minister of Education of Mongolia and His Eminence Ven. Khamba Nomun Khan Geshe Lharampa D Javzandorj of the Gandantegchenling Monastery to HE Mr Vinai Kumar Saxena, Hon’ble Lt Governor of Ladakh
