The partition of India in 1947 witnessed unprecedented human displacement and forced migration. It is one the biggest forced migrations in the history of mankind. Government of India has decided to observe 14 August as the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day in memory of the struggles and sacrifices of of the victims of the partition horrors.

About more than 6 Million People from either side of India and Pakistan (Undivided India) moved from one side to the other. About 500,000 people have been reported to have been killed during the riots and migration. This is a conservative estimate.

This exhibition is a tribute to the those people who faced the horrors of partition of India in 1947. People made new beginning of their lives after the great struggle. When you see the photos you may realize the pain the people had to go through.
